I have confirmed that the birthday on the Prime management page is only needed when you invite someone to your Prime membership. It is not used for anything else. However, I unfortunately also found it is not possible to change this date at this time.

So, when I signed up, they didn’t ask for a birthday. They decided to add one and picked a birthday for me (which might be any random date) and YOU CAN’T CHANGE IT. Seriously Amazon, WTF?
The above response makes sense if I’m some completely tech clueless person, but I know this is all in a database somewhere. Go in. Edit the record. Save. It’s not that hard.

So I was watching the “The Hubble Ultra Deep Field in 3D” video on youtube, and based on the commentary (around 2:20) some of the galaxies are moving away from us at faster than the speed of light. I’m not sure that was supposed to be possible, but let’s say it is.
Now, if the galaxy is moving away at the speed of light(c)+x, x being some tiny amount. If the galaxy emits a photon which travels at the speed of light in the opposite direction, it would still be traveling away from us at x. How are we able to detect something that is moving away from us?
So let’s pretend that we can’t detect something moving away from us at faster than the speed of light. Now, the universe is supposedly filled with dark matter, but it can’t be detected. What if all of these galaxies moving away at faster than the speed of light are the dark matter? They exist, we know they should exist, but we just can’t see them.
It seems to me, that there are a lot more galaxies out there than we could even see…

So I wrote a previous post about how Netflix raised their prices for Blu-ray rental and how I might end up bouncing back to Blockbuster.
Well, one of the main reasons for me to use Blockbuster went away this week, as they closed the store that was about a 1/4 mile from my house. They posted so nicely that they’re not leaving the “neighborhood” but just moving… about 5 miles away.
I can’t wait until someone starts streaming movies in full 1080p HD with 7.1 digital surround. (Yes, Netflix streams movies, and the video isn’t too bad, but I didn’t buy a surround sound system to listen in 2 channel. Movies are an AUDIO/visual experience)

I’m not sure what’s so great about the 3Gs. I liked my Apple IIgs, which I’ve still got, but the new iPhone just makes me go, eh.
I think it’s kinda dumb that Apple released the 3.0 software for the 3G, but didn’t include the voice control. You gave us the voice memo bit, so it clearly has the ability to record voice and process it, so why cripple the software for your older phone?
I like my iPhone, but I’m not going to buy a new one every year (and pay full price) just for a few sidegrades. Give me video conferencing with a front facing camera. Then again, it may all be ATT’s fault, considering that we can’t even get MMS at launch.
